As a lifetime athlete, Alisha played
3 sports in high school and 2 sports at New York University, specializing in Basketball and Track & Field.
Her yoga journey began in 2006, followed by Mixed Martial Arts in 2010.
Alisha currently trains Jiu-Jitsu as a Purple Belt at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Phoenix, where she is a Certified Women Empowered Instructor. She is also a 500-hour certified Yoga Teacher, and a Budokon Mobility Instructor.
Angel Athletica began in 2016 out of Alisha’s desire to inspire, educate, and empower others through a Martial Arts and Yogic lifestyle. Alisha believes that movement and mindfulness are therapeutic healing modalities.
As a Mixed Movement Athlete, Yogi and Martial Artist, my lifestyle reflects the practice of stimulating, expressing, and embodying energy in creative and invigorating ways. While Yoga is often considered a “work-IN,” Muay Thai offers a dynamic cardiovascular work-OUT; Budokon and Jiu-Jitsu combine strategies with techniques that activate and challenge both hemispheres of the brain as well as the mind/body connection.
3 Personal One-Hour Sessions! Sample each modality (Jiu-Jitsu, Yoga, Budokon, Muay Thai) and choose which Movement Practice resonates with you!
Safely learn strategies and techniques for practical self-defense from this “gentle art” that primarily focuses on ground-fighting. You will learn defenses to the most common attacks, and awareness principles that may deter potential attackers.
This personalized class is catered to your physical/energetic needs, with emphasis on alignment and supportive adjustments. You will be unified with your breath in a way that makes you feel alive and inspired.
Improve the health of your joints, soft tissues, and spine with therapeutic movement. You will harness mindful body awareness in regards to muscular control and integration while transitioning from standing to the ground, and learn how to “loop” movements into continuous spirals.
Each class covers the basic punches, knees, kicks, and elbow strikes used in the “art of 8 limbs.” Timed boxing rounds measure the pace in this cardio-focused conditioning class that is as fun as it is challenging!

2.5-hour seminar for groups up to 20 people. Learn in a cooperative training environment and create a bonding experience for your Team!
Studies show that most sexual assault assailants follow the same 4-Phase Attack Strategy. The Women Empowered Program teaches strategies and defenses against the most common attacks.
Translated to “Way of the Warrior Spirit,” Budokon is a Mixed Movement, full-body mobility workout, combining the strength of calisthenics, mechanics of martial arts, and playfulness of animal movement.
As an instructor, Alisha will guide you to fluidly transition movements from the perspective of joint mobility.
